Myself and two friends travelled to Tampa, Florida for a race in February. We all shared a room and met up with some other online friends. It was an amazing trip and as a destination race it was most excellent. If you have a chance to go anywhere for a race, take it and run with it. (pun intended)

I haven't ever done destination racing, unfortunately, but I have done some destination running. My favorite was Bermuda. I felt like I could run a loop of the whole island and never get tired (even though there were some monster hills) because it was so beautiful and relaxing. It was absolutely amazing!
However, if you want to run a destination marathon, I hear Honolulu's can't be beat!
And my mom, also a runner, has a great story about finding some running club's small weekly race in San Fransisco. My brother has one about the Mount Fuji Half Marathon. I know there are some great races waiting out there! Have a great time finding them!!

I traveled for my second race ever. My sister moved from the east coast (which is where I live) to Boulder, Co, last spring. I was just starting to get into running, so when a nice looking race popped up in my internet research of the area, I suggested coming out for a visit and doing the race with her and her partner. I spent a week there and did the Estes Park 5K, while my sister ran the half marathon. It was great. My sister is now trying to convince me to go to Sedona, AZ with her next year and do a race while we are there.
