i get this way when i am heading out for my longer runs on the weekends. I look forward to seeing how far I get push myself. My paying for it is if I have pushed mysel too hard in the speed department. I get inflamed muscles in my piriformis from fatigued poor form. At least this is what I have deduced. But my heart just wants to keep going. It is great to just head out not knowing how far you may go that day. This happens like every two or three months for me. Here's my blog.

this has only happened to me once and although at the time it felt great when i got to that point when you relise its time to head home i was lost. somehow i had got completly caught up in the moment and didnt relise where i was or what time it was. anyway i took a deep breath and carried on running suddenly it was dark and i passed a sign telling me i was 7 miles from home. at this point my lungs were aching and my legs didnt want to know i felt like a lost pack packer without a hope in the world so i dug deep and managed to get home. the next day i woke with aches and pains and feet covered in blisters. as for why i gept running i have no idea and hope that it doesnt happen again.

I have runs like that sometimes, where everything just seems to click and I don't like to head home. I guess it's a kind of runner's high. When this happens it usually results in just a few extra kilometers, as I tend to start worrying about overdoing it if I run too much further than that.

I had a run like that yesterday but only added an extra km. If I had done more, I suspect I would have paid for it today. What makes me want to keep going is hard to pinpoint. Yesterday it was just the "wow, I'm sitll running". I had not taken a break to walk or even find a potty. This was a first for me with that distance or time and no breaks whatsoever. A kind of runner's high, I guess.

Lately my running has been steadily improving and that helps. Good fast tunes help too. I have new ones on my MP3.
