This training time span looks fine to me. 5 weeks between your Half race and starting marathon training is plenty. You might even want to start your M training a little sooner, if you like (gives you time for set-backs like colds or injuries). Another good idea for your spring training this year would be to build in a local half marathon into your M plan, like the Police Half or one in May. If you are thinking about the Police Half (end of April) keep in mind that it fills up VERY quickly, and is a lot of fun.

whats up dude. thanks for the shout out on my marathon! it was awesome. i think you'll have a great time training and i think you have enough time to run the big M in july. i ran my first 10k in april '05, then marathon in october '05. i was injured for a couple weeks right around week 5 + week 6 (shin splints) but otherwise i think i had enough time. you be well prepared between now and july and you'll be able to rest plenty after your half, you can do it!!

Thanks for the show of support. I KNOW that I can do it and the more I think about it, the more excited I get.

Dawn, thanks for the info on Hal Hidgon's plan (http://www.halhigdon.com/). What a great site he has.

ummmm all runners are crazy, just look at me. :-)

Marathons require two things - training and confidence. If you do the training and make up your mind you can doit, you will likely get there. I will be restarting my training early in the year for the same marathon and likely post my training plans as well. I will use the plan I am following now and improve on it depending on how I do this time round to get ready for January. If I do well, I may step up a level. or I may just leave the plan as is. Ther's lots of great websites out there. I'm using Hal Hidgon's plan.

Good luck with your half training.

You can do it! Marathons can be daunting, but as long as you stick to your training plan, it's well within your reach. Good luck!
